Given the imminent success and fame that comes with the job, many young men and women joined the Nollywood wagon. But not Nonso. Re calls: "When I came in, I didn’t join for the money. As a matter of fact, there was no money in it at that time. Though there were stars, but they were not earning as high as most of us do today. I was always interested in anything that was exciting and acting tickled me."

He had early training as he was the mainstay of his church drama group in Enugu. He was also in the church choir where he was a proficient drummer. To propel him further, he went to the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka where he read Theatre Arts. Nonso was able to cope with the demands of his career at that time become of the proximity of his school to Enugu.

"Awka was like in-between Enugu and Anambra," he informs. "So shuttling between school and locations was pretty easy. Nothing suffered, and the people who were there before me welcomed me with open arms." He was excited doing what he loved. "Back in the days, I even did some movies free," he reveals. Then he quickly amends that: "Not really. The producers refused to pay!"

Nonso has carved a niche for himself, what with his fine boy looks and age. As he grows older, he intones that he will never retire. "How can I talk about retirement when my idols Pete Edochie and the likes are still doing it with vigour? One never retires from this business because there is always a role for any age!"
